History
UnitedHealth Group is the parent
of United Healthcare, the leading single health carrier in the United
States. It was produced in 1977, as United
Healthcare organization (it was renamed in 1998), but discover its origin to a
firm it acquired in 1977, Charter Med Incorporated, which was established in
1974.
In 1979, it established the first
network-based health plan for seniors. In 1984, it became a publicly traded
company.
Foundations
UnitedHealth Group has two
foundations, the UnitedHealth Foundation and United Healthcare Children’s
Foundation which were formed in 1999. Since established by UnitedHealth Group
in 1999 as a not for benefit private foundation, the UnitedHealth Foundation
has dedicated more than $170 million to make better health and health care.
